Free Before You Go Travel Checklist

Have you ever left the house on your way to the airport and then started to panic. Am I missing something? Did I forget to do x? That panic can really make your trip get off to a bad start. Isn’t this unavoidable? I’m glad you asked.

How would you like a Travel Checklist that helps me to remember all of the parts of preparing for travel that many people don’t even think about?

Before You Start Planning

There are a couple things that I do before I even start to plan my trip. These ensure safety but also help me understand some of what I am getting into by choosing that particular country. Visa requirements, vaccinations, and safety are some of the things on this list.

Before You Leave

I also have several things I make sure to do before I leave the country. This may include international driving permits, notifying your bank and credit card company, travel insurance, registering with your Country’s Embassy, the various paperwork I bring and provide to a close friend, and more.

Some of this may sound a bit extreme. However, on my last big trip, I was quite lucky to have missed three potentially disastrous incidents including an earthquake, a massive fire, and a terrorist attack. I was super happy that I had not only provided a copy of all my important documents to my family but I had emailed them to myself. I knew that if I was to be separated from my bag, I would still have access to copies of my passport and other identification. Also, I felt better knowing that the Canadian Government knew which Country I was in and the correct Embassy had been notified.

Before You Go Checklist

So on top of packing the essentials and ensuring your house, plants, and animals are taken care of, here is a list of things you should do before you leave the Country.
